Secret
If only it were as easy as washing one’s face with water.
The answers to questions who you are and what your destiny can come easily to some, while others struggle with it their whole lives.
Some know it right when they’re born; others find their answers after a series of special events.
I’m not sure if I’ve discovered mine yet. I’m still at that stage where I’m trying different things, learning from my numerous mistakes. Sometimes I find myself afraid and alone.
It’s not easy or simple. It’s not impossible either.
I’ll keep trying to find that secret, that wonderful thing that will make me tick.

This would’ve been my entry in the for the Illustration Friday’s topic of last week had I made an attempt to know about it a little earlier. Oh well.
My idea was this: When we come in contact with people, and this continues over a long time, we tend to start expecting things of each other. Things start blurring out: ideas, thoughts, dreams. What I mean is, people can internalize someone else’ dreams and pursue them as their own. Sometimes painful and complicated situations arise where our wants are up against others’ expectations. We sometimes bow down and accept things as it is, or we simply fight it. It can drain energy.
It’s not always bad though.
I’m sure there are many other ways to illustrate this idea. But I took this challenge to learn how to draw faces from different perspectives. I used a male and a female to generalize. My drawing skills have certainly gotten better since I first started out two weeks back. Shading looks passable, not to mention the eyes. I finally know how to draw them.
Of course I still have a long way to go. But i’m happy with the progress. :)

There are times like this, when I’m so nervous about what other people think. I doodled this without much thought, defying many laws in the process. (probably)
There are several things I need to come to terms with, one of them being OK with myself, what I think and create. I believe that this new hobby of mine is going to teach me a lot about life and how to live.
I believe that THIS is going take me some place very nice.

'Happy' is my entry in Ohh Dear's Pillow Fight Competition.
I was quite excited to be participate as this would mean more practice. Not to mention, I could probably make some money. :P
I had fun making this. I initially came up with a few ideas, but later felt that this was the one. As always, I wanted to send a message through my illustration. Since a pillow is something one would use a lot, I figured putting a reminder of some sort would be nice.
I created ‘Happy’ to remind people to start their day with a smile. One can change any sort of negative situation into a positive one if there is an intention to do so. It can begin with a heartfelt smile. It is as simple as that.
If you guys like it, please help me spread the word. If you really, really like it, why don’t you help me out a little and buy it, eh? :D
